I Take a huge cable & lock, ball cap, and canteen. So far I have not had to use the stuff!
A cell phone would be nice. The best thing is to travel with other bikers.
If you think that you are going to need a spark plug change take the chrome cover off of the engine and leave it off. Make sure that you cary a spark plug wrench that will do the job.
The Savage is not hard on spark plugs, if one follows the regular maintenance schedule there is no need to wory about carying a spare spark plug.
Waterproof your boots, jeans & shirt with silicon spray.
A multi knife-tool like the "Leatherman Wave" can come in handy. Its pliers can cut and bend wire (which can be found almost anywhere that you might travel).
Take a bicycle tire pump, besides the stop leak can.
If you think that you might have a serious wreck, take a first aid kit (MORPHINE).
